Terms of service
These terms are an agreement between you and [StepLadder's legal name, once registered] (“StepLadder”) about using StepLadder. By using it, you agree to them. Our privacy policy explains how we handle information.
Accounts
Keep your sign-in secure and your details accurate. A business's owners are responsible for who they add to the business and what those people do in StepLadder.
Plans and billing
- Plans are priced per seat (each owner and crew member), monthly or yearly, and renew automatically until canceled.
- New businesses get a 14-day free trial with a card on file; the chosen plan is charged when the trial ends unless it's canceled first.
- Adding a seat is charged right away for the rest of the period; removing one takes effect at renewal.
- Canceling stops renewal; the plan keeps working until the end of the period already paid for.
- If a payment fails, everything keeps working for 7 days. After that the dashboard becomes read-only until the payment goes through; the business's website, quote requests, and invoice payments keep working.
Taking payments
Businesses take card and bank payments through Stripe, under Stripe's Connected Account Agreement, which they accept when setting up payments. Stripe handles the money; StepLadder doesn't hold it.
Your content and your customers
- You own what you put into StepLadder. You let us store and process it to run the service for you.
- You're responsible for having your customers' permission for what you do with their information, including texts, emails, and photos, and for following the laws that apply to your business, such as licensing and consumer protection laws.
Social posts and ads
- StepLadder posts to your connected accounts only after you approve each post, and you're responsible for what you approve. Facebook's, Instagram's, and LinkedIn's own terms also apply.
- Ads are paid from your own Meta ad account, only after you approve each spend and within the budget you set.
- Photos of a customer's job are used in posts only if that customer agreed in their contract.
AI features
AI can suggest captions, ideas, and flags such as likely spam. Suggestions can be wrong: review them before you use them. AI never sets prices, sends messages, or publishes anything without a person's approval.
Acceptable use
Don't use StepLadder to break the law, mislead customers, send spam, post content you don't have the rights to, or interfere with StepLadder or other businesses using it.
Ending
You can stop using StepLadder at any time. We may suspend accounts that break these terms. After an account ends, we delete its data on request, except what the law requires us to keep.
Warranties and liability
StepLadder is provided as is. To the extent the law allows, StepLadder isn't liable for indirect or consequential losses, and its total liability is limited to what you paid StepLadder in the 12 months before the claim. [Final wording to be set by a lawyer.]
